WE HERE PRESENT to our readers some short stories about certain brave men of this land of ours in ancient times and information concerning certain warlike deeds of our beloved rulers. It is appropriate for the new generations of our beloved land to know of certain famous deeds of those persons of old who were well known for their bravery and fearlessness. By no means is this a complete account, but we shall take some of the stories in order that we, the new generation of this new era, may have pride in our ancestors deeds. We hope to make this a Christmas present to our readers. However pardon us for the possible omission of some celebrated deeds of those persons. These gifts are presented at the altar of truth, love of the land, and pride in our race. ―Rev. Stephen L. Desha December 16, 1920
